Alexandra Palace chosen to host Football Blogging Awards 2018

Alexandra Palace is currently home to the PDC Darts Championships

Alexandra Palace, one of the most iconic event locations in the UK, has today been announced as the host venue for the 2018 Football Blogging Awards (FBAs). The event date has also been confirmed for Thursday 17th May 2018, two days before the FA Cup Final at Wembley, bringing together a whole week of football.

It will be the first time the North London venue – affectionately known as ‘Ally Pally’ – will host the ceremony. It will also be the maiden event of its kind outside of Manchester. The Palace has stood at the same location since 1875 and is famous for hosting the world’s first high definition public television broadcast from the BBC in 1936. It has also held several high profile entertainment and sporting events including The Brits & MTV Europe Music Awards, the PDC Darts World Championship and The Masters Snooker tournaments.

The FBA’s is the most significant event in the calendar for all those within the football content creation industry, recognising and celebrating the best football websites, social influencers, bloggers and vloggers around the world. It is an opportunity for content creators to be recognised by fans, followers and their peers and win one of the many prestigious honours that are on offer on the night.

Niall Coen, Co-Founder and CEO of SN&CK Media – who supports the running of the FBAs – said, “Alexandra Palace is one of the premier events venues in both London and the UK. We were keen to organise the Awards ceremony around the FA Cup Final build-up as we know how incredible an experience an FA Cup-weekend in the capital can be. It was a tricky task to move the event from Manchester, as previous events there have been held at some fantastic venues and were also incredibly popular and successful. However, we relished the opportunity to find a site which would impress and please in equal measure and we’re confident that Alexandra Palace matches up to the prestige of the Football Blogging Awards.”

He continued, “We are fully aware that the FBAs welcomes content creators from around the country – and even the world – and, with the Europa League Final on 16th, these Awards on 17th and the FA Cup Final on 19th, we are very excited to have everyone on our doorstep to fully enjoy a weekend of football in the middle of May!”.

The date and venue announcement come just days after the first set of award categories were revealed.

Voting will open within the next couple of weeks. So keep watching our Facebook and Twitter for further announcements.
