What Happened at the Football Blogging Awards 2015

In the shadows of the ‘Theatre of Dreams’, the stage was set for the 4th annual Football Blogging Awards hosted at Hotel Football.

After all the detailed preparations and tactical tinkering had been completed the venue was ready for a fantastic night celebrating the hard work of football bloggers and their love of the beautiful game.

At 7pm, the doors opened wider than a leaky defensive line and 260 guests filed into Hotel Football and were presented with over 1,000 bottles from @CarlsbergFooty

Host for the award ceremony was Bianca Westwood (@beewestwood) of Sky Sports fame and regular blogger for West Ham Till I Die kicked off proceedings by welcoming the guests before introducing FBAs organiser and founder Anthony Cooper to the stage for his introductory speech.

Before any trophy celebrations or laps of honour around Old Trafford could take place the staple football fan half time refreshments in the form of pie, chips and beer had to be consumed.

Fully satisfied after the buffet, the atmosphere was palpable as the presentation of awards began. With over 150,000 votes cast, Bianca Westwood called upon a list of special guests including former Liverpool and England star John Barnes to present the awards

Kicking off the proceedings the Best Young Football Blog with The United Girl taking the fans award on home turf and A Halftime Report coming up through the ranks to take the judges choice.

Following closely behind was the Best Established Football Blog with The Football Pink and Goalden Times collecting the judge and fan awards respectively.

Next up was the Best Social Football Account and it may not be having been a great season for Brendan Rodgers but Deluded Brendan showed great character to pick up the fans award with TheSPORTbible swooping in to claim the judges prize.

Some new faces were next as the award for blogs two years or younger was given out with The United Stand taking the fan award and The Set Pieces stealing a march in the box to win the judges prize in the Best New Football Blog category.

Football is full of influential figures but two stood above all else in the Best Football Influencer category with Arseblog taking the judges award and former Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and England striker and talkSPORT presenter, Stan Collymore was in attendance to collect the fan award.

After Collymore had left the stage, attention turned to the Best Football Club Blog with Blaugranes Barca receiving the judges prize and Anfield HQ taking the fan award.

Soon after the world was in motion as former flying winger John Barnes was welcomed to the stage to present the award for the Best Gambling Football Blog which was taken home by Footy Accumulators who won the judges award and TheODDSbible claimed the fans choice.

Up next the beautiful game displayed in beautiful way with the Best Visual Football Blog awards going to Brickstand for the judges choice and 8bitfootball snatched the fans prize away from the fierce competition.

Moving from the visuals to the sound with the Best Football Podcast judges choice being awarded to The Offside Rule and ChelseaFanCast claiming the fans prize.

In the latter stages of the awards, the Best Video Football Blog was presented to Copa90 who took the judges award with 442oons tasting glory in the fan vote.

Moving into injury time the final award, the Best Football Forum, was given out to judges choice Not606 and the fan award going to Knees Up Mother Brown

And they weren’t the only having a knees up as after all the awards had been presented many of the crowd stayed for a few drinks before the organisers, Bianca Westwood and a few other bloggers headed off to the after party.
